What a meditation timer is for
Meditating in silence with a timer solves a very specific problem: the temptation to open your eyes to check how long is left. Setting the duration before you start — and letting a bell mark the end — frees the mind from clock-watching, which is exactly the kind of vigilance the practice tries to release. Optional interval bells act as anchors: if you have drifted into thought, each bell is an invitation to return.
This timer is deliberately simple and deterministic: zero artificial intelligence, no account needed. If you prefer guided practice, any session from the library or the generator will accompany you with narration.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I meditate?
Less than you think, to start: a sustained 5-10 minutes daily beats sporadic long sessions. The example timer duration (10 minutes with a bell every 3) is a reasonable starting point, not a rule.
A general wellness timing tool (zero artificial intelligence in this calculation). It is not a treatment for anxiety, panic, or a diagnosed respiratory disorder.
