Meditation for feeling less anxious about money

Money anxiety often projects into hypothetical futures that the mind treats as if they were already happening; returning to the concrete facts of the present moment interrupts that projection without denying the real underlying concern.

Sample session

When your mind starts projecting money scenarios that haven’t happened yet — or may never happen — let’s bring attention back to what’s concrete. Name 5 things you can see around you right now. Then 4 things you can touch. Then 3 sounds you can hear. Then 2 things you can smell. And one thing you can taste right now. This doesn’t resolve the actual financial situation, and it doesn’t replace looking at the numbers calmly when that’s appropriate — but if the anxiety has drifted into a hypothetical future while the body reacts as though it’s already happening, this exercise reminds it that, in this specific moment, you are here, not in that future.
