Meditation for accepting what you can’t control
When the mind insists on solving something that depends on other people or on chance, directing goodwill toward that situation instead of searching for a solution that doesn’t exist offers a different place to put the energy.
Sample session
Bring to mind the situation that’s slipping out of your hands — something that depends on another person, on an uncertain outcome, or simply on time. Instead of continuing to search for a solution that doesn’t exist right now, try directing a simple phrase toward that situation: “may this resolve in the best possible way, even though I can’t decide how.” Repeat it several times, slowly. This isn’t resignation or indifference — it’s acknowledging, in words, something you already know in your head but that the body hasn’t fully accepted yet: that some things don’t depend on you, no matter how much the mind insists on trying to control them.
