Meditation for eating with more presence and less rush

Eating while looking at a screen or thinking about the next task means the body registers little of the meal; directing attention to the concrete sensations of eating helps you notice when the body is actually satisfied.

Sample session

Before you start eating, put your phone out of sight if you can, and take a few seconds to notice how your body feels right now: are you actually hungry, or eating out of habit or because of the time? During the meal, direct your attention every so often to the taste, texture, temperature of what you’re eating — not the whole time, but more than usual. Halfway through the meal, pause briefly and notice how your body feels: are you still genuinely hungry, or is fullness starting to show up? This isn’t about eating slower out of discipline, but about giving the body the chance for its own “that’s enough” signal to arrive in time to be heard.
